Feature Request - WebAdmin on-the-fly streaming of tp files

Hello Everyone,

I do not know if I will get an answer to this unless someone from SnapStream chimes in.

Would it be possilbe to do on-the-fly compression and streaming of a .tp file? I'm assuming compressing to divx is faster than wmv, but I really don't know. That would be an amazing feature for webadmin if I could just hit play on my HDTV .tp files and it would just start playing.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Think how long it takes to compress a file to DivX.......I don't think this request is possible without really expensive, dedicated hardware (if at all).

That is what I figured. I didn't really know how long it took to compress to divx and I thought it might be somewhere near realtime, but I guess not.

On my machine (P4 3ghz) it takes about an hour and a half to ShowSqueeze a 1 hour MPEG2 to DivX.

Unfortunately it does not work well over the Internet.

Look at this thread!

Community Web Admin

We can now do on-the-fly streaming of tp files. At this point is working pretty well! (Be sure to read the whole thread as the first zip file does not work.)

I've been using this over the weekend and it works great! I posted my experience with it on my blog HERE, but definitely check out the forum post and start trying it out. It's free and built-in to your Beyond TV setup. Just install VLC and the update to webadmin and your in business.
