Problems with Media Center Remote

I have been at this for a few days now, and am at my wits end. I have a Media Center Remote. The receiver sees the IR signal, as the red light on the receiver turns on when I hit a button on the remote. However, the computer doesn't not respond to the remotes inputs.
I have two Hauppauge 1600s in the machine. I don't have their remotes hooked up, but might there be a problem with them interfering with my Media Center Remote?
Eventually I want to get a FireFly when I can afford to spend the money. But if I can't get this remote to work at all, I am wondering if throwing another remote at the problem will solve anything.

Re: Problems with Media Center Remote

Make sure your machine is up to date with Windows Update. Specifically Update Rollup 2.

Re: Problems with Media Center Remote

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned this is on Windows Vista Home Premium. That Rollup 2 is only for MCE 2005 right?
I have seen solutions to problems caused by that update and run through all of them that made sense to do with Vista, uninstall and reinstall receiver, reset the remote, try to change the channel the remote uses.

Can't help you with Vista......other than suggesting not to use it on an HTPC! :P

Re: Problems with Media Center Remote

If you have a dedicated HTPC, there is no justifiable reason to run Vista on it as opposed to XP.

Save the extra resources required by Vista and let XP and BTV use them instead.
