I wonder if the MG-350HD firmware could be moded. This is an inexpensive box. If you don't use a hard drive, it connects to copmuter. http://www.airlinktek.com/

MCE and XBOX3600 is very cool. I would love BTV and BM to do that. Wouldn't even mind if it took away from a Link license if it worked exactly the same way.

Or all of us could go out and buy a MAC? From there commercial I just saw, we just pull it out of the box and it's ready to do everything! MAC is the only way to go! LOL

Re: Would you like a Media Extender for Beyond TV

I would love both SD and HD extenders for BeyondTV.

I purchased BeyondTV/BeyondTV-Link last month after checking out the trial version. I really like the software. I'm using a Hauppauge HD-950 and recently added a HD-1600, both using ATSC along with analog cable channels.

** I'm not trolling. I don't believe in religous wars when it comes to software/hardware. **

I've run into a few issues that now have me running the SageTV trial.

The first is the Media MVP support. I got one of these last week. I didn't plan on using the Hauppauge software other than testing. I was going to try the BeyondTV software I saw in the forums. I ran into a few issues on my test server with the Hauppauge software. I rebooted the MVP and connected it to my SageTV test server. It installed a SageTV bin file over the network and I had the SageTV interface on my MVP. OMG, I cannot believe how good a job they did with it. It is SageTV on the MVP.

The other new piece of hardware I just added while testing SageTV was an HDHomerun. Following the documenation online I had it recording in SageTV with 30 minutes, that was after locating all my QAM channel numbers.

I've been following the threads regarding using the HDHomerun and MediaMVP with BeyondTV. I don't know if I will try getting them to work. I'm getting too old to spend the hours getting a system to a functional state. Since the SageTV support is working so well I may bite the bullet and fork over another $125-150 to buy licenses for SageTV.

With the rumor of SageTV coming out with a HD extender for ~$200 or less I think that helps convince me I may have pulled the gun too quick when I purchased BeyondTV.

My dream software would be the hardware support of SageTV with the interface of BeyondTV.

I know but I found this link going through Snazio.com (i think). But I wonder how I got to a russian page. Allot of these companies take other prodocts and sell as their own. I think Snazio is one of THOSE companies.

Just so you know, you can have the something very close to the BTV inteface with the free mediaMVP skin for the HaupaugeMVP. I use it and it works great - especially for free. To set it up, read this post. It also outlines what it can and can't do.

The HDHomeRun works with BeyondTV. Pretty easy to set up following these instructions

If you're able to get Sage working that quickly, It should be a snap for you to do the same on BTV. Since you've already bought BTV, it would be worth it right??? And if you change your mind when the "rumored" HD Extender comes out then you can buy the Sage license. I've learned not to buy based on promises or rumors. Buy based on what is available today.

I agree it would be nice to have a HD extender you could just plug in and it works. Since there was no pre-made HD Extender, I just built a BTV Link machine myself (see this thread for a description of what I built) that handles BeyondTV and Beyond Media (including HD) with no problems. Its really not that much work to build one and it isn't too expensive.

The TV season is coming to end soon and I will seriously consider dumping everything Snapstream. I can't take their foot dragging anymore while other competitors are making leaps ahead of them.

Re: Would you like a Media Extender for Beyond TV

I'm not seeing an actual device from Sage - As far as I can tell, they are just "planning" one. Until it is actually something you can buy and try out, I'm not sure I would jump for that reason anyway...

I didn't say it was better. I just don't think it would be a good idea to leave one software and purchase another one for something that doesn't exist yet. I'm not saying you can't, but I wouldn't. I try to buy based on what the product is today, not what it might be tomorrow.
