Search feature is REALLY doggy

I noticed that the "title" search now searches for the word anywhere in the title. It is reall really really really really slow.

I have the all the channels from the dish lineup as well as the local comcast extended cable. Could it be the search algorithm used can't handle a large database like this?

Can anyone shed some light on this topic and if there is a way to get the old "title" search feature back.

I am running an Athlon 64 3400+, BTV 4.6.1

Thanks
- J

I'm having the same problem and have opened a trouble ticket. I've been going back and forth with them, and unfortunately they haven't figured it out yet.

Re: Search feature is REALLY doggy

The funny thing is that I remember reading the release notes about 4.6 indicating that the search function has improved, and that got me all excited.

It is nice that it finds the keywords on all the titles, but it not only fails half the time, it is also really slow.

Slow -- exactly how Slow is it for you?

When I've done searches -- there is a delay of approx 30 seconds until the items show up.

I don't count that exactly as Super slow -- due to the machines that I'm using... I only run in Link mode.

The goal for the new searches is a return in less than a half second. We have identified an issue searching in large lineups which takes it outside this range (or never at all). It will be corrected in a future version.

That's great. I experienced search times of 1 minute or like Kilrsat says, it fails altogether. And yes, my line up is huge -- over 500 channels.

Maybe that's what's happening to me.

I have Expressvu, Dishnetwork and Starchoice in my lineup. I wonder how many channels that is?

Re: Search feature is REALLY doggy

Yea, you have a lot more than I do. I avoid the search feature and use snapstream.net for now.
