HVR 1600 Dual Tuner????

I am looking at the HVR 1600 for $89.99 at CC. The card boasts ATSC and Cable Ready Tuner. Does this card have support for recording on both tuners at the same time? My goal is to replace my avermedia HD card with this one. I have 3 PCI slots all full at the moment and I am looking to use the IR blaster that comes with the 1600 to control my DishHD.

Re: HVR 1600 Dual Tuner????

I had issues when I had two Hauppauge cards with remotes on the same computer, so it may take some effort to get the Hauppauge remote and/or blaster working. I do not currently use either, issue is Hauppauge does not support more than one card on a computer (downright stupid). But HD and SD capture are simultaneous and work very well. I had issues with my input audio being too high, but I posted instructions on registry edits to lower these values.

Simple, awesome. Installed and configured in 30 minutes, and works just how I wanted. Thanks!

Re: HVR 1600 Dual Tuner????

I now have two in my pc and they work great. Last night I had 4 recordings going at the same time while watching one of them. I split my analog cable and my digital antenna.

Good tuners.

Re: HVR 1600 Dual Tuner????

I like it as well... I have it setup with my other two pinnacle sticks, 3 HD and 1 Sat. However, I have noticed since this new card some video glitches in movement of the Sat tuner. I don't notice it in the HD tuners.

I have never had problems having two Hauppauge cards at the same time. I had two PVR-250s previously and now have two HVR-1600s. However, I only ever plugged in one remote in either setup. Why would you need both remote receivers?

Re: HVR 1600 Dual Tuner????

With two 250's, not an issue, same drive. Issue is one 250 and one 1600, the software looks for the first card, so depending on your card order and which remote you use, it may or may not work. Remote software is different for each card.

I had no issues whatsoever recording with two cards, strictly a remote issue.

Re: HVR 1600 Dual Tuner????

I was going buy two of the 1600's though I have a few questions before I get too deep in this dream configuration.

-Would it work if I had a Comcast HD Box and could get a splitter to where I would be using up all 4 coax inputs on the card so I could record 4 shows at the same time (NTSC/NTSC, NTSC/ATSC, ATSC/ATSC)?

-I get good OTA HD signal so would I be better off just getting an antenna instead of paying the extra 10 bucks a month for HD?

Thanks...this will take me a few steps closer to having my perfect setup.

Re: HVR 1600 Dual Tuner????

You will only get HD through your antenna, NOT the Comcast HD box. Search a bit, but HD through cable boxes isn't supported.

Re: HVR 1600 Dual Tuner????

Only HD through cable boxes is unencrypted QAM (local channels only typically ) through an HDhomerun

Good tuners.
Will each tuner's IR blaster work seperately for 2 different STB's?

Re: HVR 1600 Dual Tuner????

For the price, the 1600 rocks. I picked it up at CC for 69.99 w/ a 10 mail in rebate. Couldn't go wrong with that. I love the dual tuner with the 1600 1analog/1atsc. Looking to get an HDHome run now.
