Re: dont know what section I should go to

great thanks queonda, I just see a lot of warnings about technical questions should be directed to certain places.

So here are my questions. I loaded BeyondTV 4.6.1 and then I went to the web based interface and started selecting programs to record. After a day I noticed none of the shows recorded. Then I noticed when used the ViewScape to check the SnapStream.Net guide there was no info on the channels though I did the set up wizard and the channels were showing on LiveTV.

Eventually I found under SETTINGS/SnapStream.net SETTINGS I find a DOWNLOAD SNAPSTREAM>NET PROGRAM GUIDE DATA. So I did this and found all my recorded shows loaded onto VIEWSCAPE.

QUESTION: shouldn't this downlaod automatically? If I travel to Europe and go online to record a show, do I have to fly back to the US to download the data so my computer will know to record the shows I programed on the web???

Once a show is recorded, I see a lot of extra files that are created. Show title.chapters XML Doc. Do these delete themselve or will I have a bunch of mini files everytime I record a show?

Im a former WinTV/Titan TV user. With this software I was able to connect a VCR and play a tape and it would show on the screen in which I would start recording that feed and convert my VHS tapes to Mpeg. How can I do this with BeyondTV?

Is there a way to skip commercials on the recorded mpeg. Like I record a show and when its done I can burn it on DVD w/o the commercials or do I still have to manually edit the mpeg. that's what I was hoping it would do but Im thinking what you meant by skipping the commercials is playing the footage in Beyond TV and them hitting a button every time you wanna skip past a commercial.

Thanks for your help. ill check the forum and advice or cool tricks for my use are welcomed.

Thanks for your time.

YEs, should download automaticly. Look at your btv logs to see if you have a problem. Some people get coruption when the guide tries to download and can only resolve with manual download. You should have between 10-14 days of guide data. You can add a program like logmein or teamviewer to access your computer when your away to check to see if everything is ok.

They keep with the show. If you delete a recorded show, those files will be deleted.

Yes, In webadmin there is a record now on the left handside. you can give the recording a name and duration.

You have to edit the commercials manually. there are some programs which look at the smartchapters and there is an xvid commercial cutter (do a search in the forums) which some members are working on. Yes, they meant pushing button to skip commericals. It's better this way cuz smartchapters are not 100% accurate.

Thanks again for answering my questions.

"Yes, In webadmin there is a record now on the left handside. you can give the recording a name and duration."

what was this answer pertaining to? and how do I get the VCR feed to appear on the beyond tv screen. Is there a certain channel that it automatically appears on.

Re: dont know what section I should go to

What kind of capture card do you have?

the answer was to record from vhs tape. I have a Hauppage 500mce, which I record tv through BTV with coaxal. When I want to record tapes, I connect the vcr to s-video, then I select the s-video from the list (record now in webadmin). But I think I had to add that s-video connection through webadmin.

Re: dont know what section I should go to

The only problem you may have if it's a copy right tape is the macrovision.

Re: dont know what section I should go to

you have the same set up as I. I use the S cable also. Where is the WebAdmin. im not familiar with this term. Most of my VHS tapes are tapes Ive recorded in the past. Also, do you know of a virtual community that shares video. like if I forgot to record Dancing with the stars last nite cuz my BeyondTV didnt download the info from the web, then I can go online and people show what they've recorded so we can share by mail or FTP?

Re: dont know what section I should go to

Right click on the tv icon by the clock and goto settings or advance settings. It will open your browser and will give you more options for BTV (webadmin).

no I don't know about TORRENT (hint).

Re: dont know what section I should go to

Didn't they turn off the web admin options from the icon?

if so, just got to http://localhost:8129 and then turn on the webadmin in the systray icon from the settings pages.

Re: dont know what section I should go to

I think that it is back to being installed automatically, but when you right click on the BTV icon in the systray, it is called Advanced Settings.
