IR Blaster suggestion?

Does anyone have a suggestion for a new IR blaster cable or where to get it at? I just bought the BTV and HVR-1600 PCI Bundle (which will be arriving shortly! :-D) but I know the IR blaster cable won't reach my satellite box. Anyone know where I can get an 50+ foot cable, or even better, wireless?

I've heard of cutting and splicing in extra wire to reach a longer distance. If you don't want to try that you can find a remote control extender here: http://www.mytvstore.com/

It should work, I haven't personally had any experience with extenders.
Maybe someone else who has one of these working with a hauppauge blaster can verify that it works.

or you can get a usb-uirt and be done with it. i have never connected that blaster to a reciever(though you can if you want to)instead i just reflected the signal off nearby objects(wall, chair, etc.) you didn't mention if you have one or more receivers but as long as they are operating on different ir channels there will be no problem.

Agreed - if you feel you need to get it closer a USB extension cable or two can be purchased at pretty much any decent computer store. The USB-UIRT doesn't need a lot of bandwidth, so extensions work well.

why not add an IR Blaster to the USB-UIRT and extend it with a 3.5mm headphone extension cable? Is it not possible to move the satellite box closer and connect it with a serial cable?
