Unhappy Can't find video library

So all was well until I got this email urging me to upgrade to 4.6 because of all the things that were fixed. After I upgraded, beyond tv cannot find my video library. It will record stuff fine, but when I go to play it back, it sits at 'populating library' forever with the message at the bottom that there are no video files in the library.

They are being recorded fine, and I can play them with other viewers, but the other viewers don't let me ff through the commercials, so I need to get this fixed.

I've run the config utility endlessly and it doesn't change. I'm guessing there is a registry key that is corrupted - can anyone tell me what to do to fix this?

Re: Can't find video library

If you have alot of files or have a NAS Fileserver or any other type of Network storage then the system is populating the XML file. I have a 2TB NAS and it takes about 25 mins to repopulate the XML file the first time I change something such as upgrade. This only happens once the first time and should not delay the system after that.

How long have you let it run?

Hope this helps.

Thanks
Mike

Re: Can't find video library

Well, I don't have a NAS fileserver and I have less than 2 dozen video files. I once let it run for over an hour but I don't recall exactly how long - I think it was actually overnight, but I can try that again - just let it run.

Thanks for the idea.

Re: Can't find video library

For only a dozen files should take seconds, not minutes. Are the video files on a local drive?

I would uninstall and reinstall to see if that fixes the problem. Before you do, do a settings save in btv (right click on the bTV icon near the clock and goto help then backup).

I agree, it should take seconds. I would delete all of your BTV Folders inside of BTV then readd them in the WebGUI.

Re: Can't find video library

I've deleted the folders and re-added them over and over, as well as running setup repeatedly.

Last night I just let it run with the message 'populating video library' on the screen. Apparently, eventually the computer (XP Pro) crashed/rebooted, because tonight when I sat down I had to log in. (I recall now that this is what happened the first time I just let it run.) It wasn't a clean reboot either, as it was 100% busy with 'ccApp' so I had to reboot again.

I still think I should be able to edit a registry entry somewhere, if I just knew where.

I am having the same exact problem with my new NAS. I have a movie folder that only has about 108 movies in it and BTV just bombs. Media center doesn't have a problem with it. Not sure what is going on but everything works from the windows share. I left the machine on over night and it compleatly died.
