Rewinding after channel change and slow channel change

I have an AIW X800XL and haven't been impressed with either it's performance or the software that came with it. So I downloaded the BeyondTV trial this week and I like the software interface and the fact it will actually schedule and record shows, but I have a few concerns before I buy it and Hauppage 150. Maybe someone can help me out.

First, when I'm watching TV with Beyond TV and I change the channel it takes a second or two. It's a lot slower than the TV program that came with my AIW. Will that go away when I have the better Hauppage 150?

Second, whenever I change the channel, I can't rewind and watch whatever I had just seen. For example I watch 20 minutes of channel 30, and then change to channel 31, I end up losing the 20 minutes on channel 30. Is this how Beyond TV work, or do I not have something set up correctly? The AIW and it's software allow you to rewind to whatever you were watching, no matter what channel you change.

Finally, whenever a new show comes on Beyond TV won't let me rewind to what I had just been watching. Is that a problem with Beyond TV or my setup?

If you take a look at your recording folder (with show hidden files enabled), you will see BTV starting a new file for each channel you go to, or for each new show. That is why you can't rewind under those conditions. You would need to hit record if you want to keep access to those files...

Beyond TV buffers what you watch on live TV to enable pausing. That's why the channel changing is slower than just changing channels on a regular TV - you're actually about 3 or 4 seconds behind "live TV".

This is also how BTV works. If you're watching live TV, its automatically recording everything UNTIL you change the channel. You can rewind for about an hours worth of TV from your last channel change. But once you change the channel, that buffer is gone and it starts on a new buffer for the new channel.

You can record one channel and watch another with a dual tuner card (or record two shows) by either the record button or schedule the show to record.

Thanks for the info. I think that's a feature that they should add. I like to switch channels often and it's really nice to be able to go back and watch what's been playing on live TV.
