Has anyone tried the gyration keyboard and mouse/remote?

I'm looking into buying the Gyration Media Center PC Remote Control with Keyboard found here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...C-SMARTERDEALS

Has anyone successfully setup and ran with this remote? If so, does it work correctly with BTV? Below is a link to an image of the remote.

Thanks for your help! I'm looking to buy this keyboard/remote tomorrow.

Re: Has anyone tried the gyration keyboard and mouse/remote?

I have an older model Gyration setup. The best thing about these products is the distance at which they work. I use the keyboard as my BTV transport remote in my den, works great. That new remote shown in the picture looks pretty neat. Post a report if you get it.

I beleive that new remote is a MCE remote. They are supported in BTV... Right?

Re: Has anyone tried the gyration keyboard and mouse/remote?

I have one. I just got about 3 days ago.

I (mostly) love it. The mouse feature is what I wanted. I have netflix and regularly watch stuff at ABC.com Neither of those can be naviated without a mouse. The mouse feature took about 2 hours to learn. After 10 minutes I was ready to throw it across the room in frustration, but now I can hightlight and copy text, click any button, even small ones and drag slide bars.

I used to need 5 remotes, for most activites this replaces them all. However It is not as handy as harmony on remote replacement since I need to individually turn on the TV, reciever etc.

PROS:
Great RF range. My computer is in the basement and so is the sensor. No problems with a 20' range going through flooring.

Works with BTV right out of the box. I never even told BTV about the remote and almost every button is understood.

Mouse for non-BTV computer use works easily.

CONS:
The green button and the four MCE buttons do nothing and I can't find a way to reprogram / remap them. I'd like the green button to launch BTV but it is essentially wasted space.

IN PC mode the volume key can't be reprogrammed to do an IR command. BTV just passes through the 5.1 to my reciever so that the volume function in BTV does nothing. To change the volume I need to switch modes on the remote and then switch back later if I want to pause or skip ahead. This is the greatest irriation I have. Anyone spending $170 on a remote / keyboard combo surely has a high end reciever, why force me to let the computer adjust the volume?

It is a fairly large remote.

Re: Has anyone tried the gyration keyboard and mouse/remote?

I also own this Gyration remote. As mentioned, the mouse functionality is a little maddening at first. It works, but I certainly wouldn't use it as my primary mouse for the system when working in Windows or on the Internet. I also feel kinda bummed that I need to switch it to TV mode to control the volume or on/off state of the TV. I wish they would let you program the remote when its in the PC mode.

I am currently experiencing a problem where the remote's Play, Pause, Rewind, and Fast Forward buttons are not registering with the PC when pressed. But, I think it was something I did and not the fault of the remote.

Will this remote bring your computer out of standby?
Can you use two remotes at the same time for computers in different rooms without interference?

I bought one to try it out. Here's a few things I learned.

-The remote does wake your computer from standby.
-More then one can be used in different rooms (there is a connect button on the reciever and the remote).
-The PC part of the remote uses RF; for the other devices it uses IR.
-Driverless installation
-The mouse controls were very easy to use and worked really well.
-Buttons are small; remote is not comfortable to hold.
-The "silver" face is more gold then silver.
