How do I play mpg/avi files through BTV?
Sorry if this question has been asked before, but after searching through the KB and FAQs I couldn't find an answer.
I have a "library" of .mpg and .avi files that BTV recorded and that I transcoded/edited using videoredo and autogk and placed inside my BTV box (on a different drive from the BTV recording folder). I am using VLC to play these currently, but we would prefer if we could play these through BTV since the firefly remote does a decent job of navigating through the video. Is there any way to make BTV aware of these videos so that I could play them from its Recorded Programs menu? Thanks in advance.

Re: How do I play mpg/avi files through BTV?
Either put them in your BTV default folder or go into web admin and add another folder. BTV will recognize most file formats. Only thing it will not have the show information. Look for BTV show info editor to add if you want.

Re: How do I play mpg/avi files through BTV?
It may just be me, but BTV refuses to play DivX Files encoded with AC3 Audio.
I tried changing the extention from .divx (to) .avi However, it still doesn't work. ![]() I'm using BTV Version 4.4

Re: How do I play mpg/avi files through BTV?
I normally use Xvid, and divx files (.avi) extension but don't convert myself. They also don't have .divx extension. However, as khris says you should have AC3 filter installed, but if you want 5.1, make sure your settings are correct. I was getting sound but my amp said It was not DD, until I put the correct settings.

Re: How do I play mpg/avi files through BTV?
Thanks! I don't know how I missed something so obvious. Maybe I was afraid that the default directory would somehow get changed to point to my archive directory.
The VideoReDo files play great. The .avi files from AutoGK tend to freeze up and the audio doesn't sync in BTV, but they play fine in VLC. I guess I'll have to dig a bit deeper to find out what's going on here.

Re: How do I play mpg/avi files through BTV?
Could be the playback decoder in BTV. Also sometimes if you have 3d acceleration enabled it causes problems. Also, display video drivers do too.
I remember having problems with video files in BTV but played well in Zoomplayer. But for some reason, I did something and all plays very well in BTV. |

Funny thing is, I just tried to play a divx file (with avi extention) with ac3 audio with BTV, and suprise, suprise, it works fine! The only thing I can think of that's diffrent from the last time i tried it is that I removed (uninstalled) that AC3Filter program that the DivX People link to on their official website. I still have the latest nVidia PureVideo decoder installed. I'm also running ForceWare driver Version 84.21 on my server and link machine. So, oddly enough, having that AC3Filter installed in my setup was my problem. Go figure... ![]() EDITED TO ADD I'm running my server and link machine in Overlay mode.

Re: How do I play mpg/avi files through BTV?
Yeah, once I uninstalled the AC3Filter, I could successfully play back Divx Files with AC3 Audio in Beyond TV.
The origonal reason I removed the AC3 Filter from my PC is that it was conflicting with my PureVideo Decoder; ie: when I used WMP 10 or BTV to play back OTA HDTV, the audio would "Pop" every so often.
