BTV and sound output settings

Hello all,

Now that I'm watching more of a mix of AC3 and stereo sound formats, I seem to be switching between 5.1 and SPDIF on the options screen in link.

I use spdif out to my reciever. When I'm watching an AC3 format, sound doesn't sound good + don't get DD and sounds best in SPDIF. I cannot adjust volume through BTV. It stays at 10.

If I'm watching a stereo format and set options to 5.1. Then I can control volume through btv.

How can I control the output of SPDIF? How can I set it higher than 10?
Should there be an auto option where if BTV finds an DD source it should auto switch (if I have enabled, similar to auto for picture format) or if stereo auto switch to that?
