Now that I can record HD, I think I will finally be able to retire my old Tivo without the wife kicking me out of the house.
A few last issues I am trying to figure out: 1) We use a Pronto remote, which can learn IR. I read about Girder, but there does not appear to be a plugin compatible with the latest Girder 4.0. If there is a list of keyboard shortcuts for controlling BTV then I could learn those from my IR Microsoft Keyboard. Did not see a keyboard list anywhere -- has anyone compiled one? Can all functions be done with a keyboard? 2) I have the full version of Divx on my HTPC and had planned on using ShowSqueeze to compress my HD Recordings to a smaller size. The option to automatically ShowSqueeze says 'non-HD' though. Does that mean HD cannot be squeezed? 3) Really a follow up to #2, but does this mean the commercial skip function will not work either? If any of you can recommend settings or add-ons that made the transition easier (commercial or free), please let me know. Thanks for any ideas! David |

Re: HDHomerun Up - Next Steps
1) It's in the help file. Hard to find, but it is there
2) You can showsqueeze (I use Divx HD High), but it won't automatically kick them off. They thought it was resource intensive. Search though, as there is a minor file change that will turn it on 3) Smartskip works fine. |

Re: HDHomerun Up - Next Steps
THANKS BTVFreak!
I searched everywhere for that! Is the built in squeeze the way to go, or should I look at AutoXvid? I have the full license for Divx, so that should be a plus with the built in compression... Right? |

Re: HDHomerun Up - Next Steps
I edited the "Home Theater (High)" DivX profile for 2-pass, and it's been working fairly well. Quality is very good. I like things automated if possible.

Re: HDHomerun Up - Next Steps
I recommend using the HD profiles, since it'll keep that 16:9 aspect ratio

Re: HDHomerun Up - Next Steps
The HD profiles would always fail for me, and when viewing shows compressed with the Home Theater High profile on my HDTV they look great. Looks 16:9 to me. Doesn't look stretched out.

Re: HDHomerun Up - Next Steps
This would be a good option because it might stop the audio sync issues, and the audio doesnt take up THAT much space.
