Motorola DCT2224 and BeyondTV 4

Hello everyone...This is my first post.

This is my setup:

Intel P4 3.0ghz
1gig DDR Ram
160 WD HD
WinTV PVR-500 MCE
BeyondTV 4 + Firefly Remote
Motorola DCT 2224
Digital Cable Package from http://cableone.net/

All works well except my Motorola Digital box which I haven't tried to set it up yet. I was going to use a serial cable to connect it but I was unsure if it was enabled or not. I asked my cable provider who says it's not but she didn't sound too sure of herself.

What would be the best way to hook it up...Use an IR blaster (if so which do I get and how much do they cost) or buy a Serial cable and test it? Anyone have this box with it successfully working? Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Motorola DCT2224 and BeyondTV 4

hello there
my set-up is simelar but i have the haug 1600 w the ir blaster & the firefly remote.
your processer is a bit better(but mine is a coredueo),so all in all we are simelar.
we have comcast withtthe same box. i tryed to use a seral cable,no go!! then i got the ir blaster & it works fine. i got my ir blaster with my card so i cant say how to just get the blaster. i would check the beyondtv sight first.(do you have beyond media?they have one with remote i believe??) then check everywhere else for sales. good luck & yes all is fine here, even the wife & kids understand it!!

Re: Motorola DCT2224 and BeyondTV 4

Hi; I'm just trying to set up my WinTV-Go with my DCT 2224 (though I'm probably going to swap out for the PVR 150), but I can't seem to get the IR blaster to work at all. May I ask what codes you used, placement of the LED, etc? It's fustrating me a lot, and I don't want to go out and buy another Hauppage card until I'm sure that this will work.

Anyway, any suggestions would be hightly appreciated. Thanks.

Kelly

Re: Motorola DCT2224 and BeyondTV 4

After much frustration, I discovered that the semi-transparent face plate of the Motorola Box blocks the signal from the PVR-150 IR Sender. Once I put the sender under the faceplate, channels changed as they should.
