Recording HD from cable box?

I want to record High Def from a cable box. I'm confused as to what I've read on the subject, so could someone be so kind as to clear this up for me?

what you want to do is called Qam, at this moment, Beyond TV does not support it yet.

While its not supported natively by Snapstream YET... it can be done if you have unencrypted QAM through your cable provider. Check out the BTV Exterminator Add-on by Fonceur. see my sig for details.
