Multiple Files for one Recording

I have a bit of a strange problem, or rather a question.

When I set a recording for a show or movie, I always end up with multiple recordings. For example, I set up a recording of Mortal Combat that was on TV today, since I was heading out a bit. When I came back two hours later, I found I had 5 files in total. The first file is 11 minutes, and the rest are 3.75GB. This makes playback a bit annoying.

Does anyone have any idea why this would happen? The first thought I had was the fact that the drive I am recording on is formatted in FAT32, which only supports up to 4GB file sizes.

Re: Multiple Files for one Recording

Your first though appears correct.

I guess this was a HD recording. So you format either the existing disk or a new disk to accomodate larger files sizes.

Yes it was an HD recording. I am in the process of deciding if i want to build a new computer or just reconfigure my exsisting one. Either way I am going to format the 250GB drive as NTFS and use it as my main hard drive.

You can convert the format of the drive from FAT32 to NTFS without losing the data already on the drive. That is definitely your problem..

Yes, you are correct. A conversion will not lose the data.

Re: Multiple Files for one Recording

And the real file size restriction of FAT32 is lower, around 2GB
