So far so good - 4.6 on Vista - Nice job

Installed Vista Ultimate a few days ago, kind of growing on me but there are some irritations with some software and utilities (Adobe has to take the prize for the most bloated and intrusive software!).

Media centre crashes on me and from what I can read in the various forums, lots of Hauppauge card owners seem to be having simlar problems. Seems to be the drivers, tried all the obvious fixes of clearing out every driver file and installing fresh with latest versions, but so far no luck. Don't really want to use WMC anyway but I do like to figure out problems just for piece of mind.

Anyway - Very impressed so far with 4.6 on Vista, seems to work wel. But after limited testing, so we will try everything out over the next week.

The one thing with Beyond TV I truly do congratulate the developers for is that when I shut it down it closes all services. PLEASE do not change that! So much software now have resident programs running it is getting out of control. I set a Dell up the other day for someone, I was disgusted with how many totally useless apps and utilities were loaded by default, had to be 10 or 12 icons popping up and flashing at me from the notification area - poor guy had lost half his RAM before he'd done a thing.

Cheers

I agree about the 'resident apps'. It seems like everything has a little monitor trayicon to check for updates, remind you when you haven't registered for the 40th time.

One of the worst cases is the Printer Manufacturers, not sure how some of these companies (Lexm**k) can justify the huge amounts of disk space to support a printer - it's actually quite sad.

By.the.way - Brave individual to set a course into VISTA land. I worked for Microsoft for 8 years. Brave person indeed. lol
