Angry can't view web admin

Server Error in '/' Application.

Access to the path "c:\program files\snapstream media\beyond tv\wwwroot\ViewStateTemp\yfw1fm55lhdwxl55ooppyh45_ _default.aspx.viewstate" is denied.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "c:\program files\snapstream media\beyond tv\wwwroot\ViewStateTemp\yfw1fm55lhdwxl55ooppyh45_ _default.aspx.viewstate" is denied.

ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}\ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user.

To grant ASP.NET write access to a file, right-click the file in Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add" to add the appropriate user or group. Highlight the ASP.NET account, and check the boxes for the desired access.

_____

so, if I try the above steps, I do not see a Security tab.

any help would be appreciated

UPDATE: Solution found, details on page 2

Re: can't view web admin

Was this the home page or one of the other pages ? If you look at task manager, are there any BTV processes that seem to be using a lot of CPU ?

Re: can't view web admin

this is the home page http://localhost:8129/default.aspx
I've rebooted a few times with no luck

running BTV apps are :

BTVAgent2.exe...........................3,760K
BTVD3DShell.exe.....................65,112K
BTVLibraryService.exe..............20,744K
BTVNetworkService.exe............35,288K
BTVRecordingEngine.exe.............4,084K
BTVRecordingEngine.exe.............4,084K
BTVRecordingEngine.exe.............4,084K
BTVSchedulerService.exe...........13,624K
BTVSettingsService.exe................6,644K
BTVTaskManagerService.exe......26,172K

is it odd that there are 3 recording engines running? I'm not recording anything right now.

There should be a recordingengine for each of your tuners (including fm), so no, that is not odd. This shows the memory used - what about CPU usage ? I've had issues with WebAdmin when BTVLibaryService is using a lot of CPU. Have you rebooted since this started ? Any changes to .net or changes to video folders (is one of your network folders unavailable) ?

tm
Not sure but I think it is one instance for each tuner and 1 for the fm tuner. But somebody with more knowledge can better answer.

Re: can't view web admin

right now, I'm recording something and CPU usage is jumping between 5% and 80% but averaging around 15%

I'm also working on a project in Adobe Illustrator (91 mb file) and the CPU is not slow at this time.

No changes to .net or video folders, that I am aware of anyway. Network folders seem to be fine.

Re: can't view web admin

I just created a new user on windows and got your error message when I tried to get to the web admin on the new (limited) user account. When I rebooted and logged onto the original (admin) account I had no problem.

It looks like when you have Beyond TV to start on start up it starts no matter what user you log in with. Then that user has the beyond TV icon in the tray near the clock. When you switch to another user you don't get the icon in the tray. This is no good for me because I want any user to have access to beyond TV. Any ideas?

Can you start it from the Snapstream program group? If so then you'll just have to make sure that the shortcut for btvagent2 is in the 'All Users' startup group.

I'm not sure if BTV requires local administrator permissions to run or not. I'm at work right now, otherwise I'd test it for you. You could try adding your new user to the Administrator group as a test.

Re: can't view web admin

i reinstalled .NET on mine and can see it as admin, but not as a user. My shortcut for btvagent2 is in the 'All Users' startup group.

BTV does not require admin, I have always used BTV as a limited user on my PC to avoid adware/spyware installs. Previious versions have allowed me to use web admin while logged in as a limited user. This is really frustrating and annoying. I've created a support ticket with SS.

BTV starts for whatever user logs in first. The problem is that only that user has the BTV icon in the system tray and only that user can bring up the BTV window and use the program. If another user logs in he doesn't see or have access to BTV and clicking on BTV in the start menu does nothing.

I don't want to hijack this thread so I am starting a new one called "Only one user can access BTV at a time?"

Do a search on running BTV as a service. Fixes the problem

Fixes the original posters problem (Can't open webadmin) or my problem (BTV icon only appears in system tray for first user to log on)?

Looking into running BTV as a service it looks like quite an undertaking. Also it says my video card (ATI All in Wonder...) won't support it.
