I just installed BeyondTV and wrote down the following. Hopefully, it could improve BeyondTV.

Great product, but the navigation needs some improvement (see below).


Menu's

The menu's are sometimes a bit frustrating. You know that some kind of option is somewhere,
but you cannot find it easily.

1. Rethink the structure of the menus. I would like to see a more simple menu. At this moment, when one selects, let's say, 'Settings' from the
'Beyond TV Web Admin', there will be a selection on the right, but also in black 'Basic' and 'Advanced' somewhere at the top.
See to manage to have only one menu system/structure.

2. The menu order itself is confusing me a bit too.
Different levels are available in the mainmenu on the right (the Beyond TV Web Admin).
I would strip this down to Home, Program Guide, Recordings, Settings. Even leave the 'Tasks' window out.
You maybe could keep it, if of all menu items shortcuts can be put here by the user itself

Today, Recorded Shows, ShowSqueeze all belong to 'Recordings'
Settings, Upgrade, Enter Product Key all belong to 'Settings'


If you look at the settings menu
Put 'Recording Preferences, Video FOlders, Expiration Manager, SHowSqueeze under 'Recording settings'
Put 'Audio and Video inputs', Video Qualities, Timeshifting buffers, ViewScape settings, Video playback settings under Audio/Video Settings
Change 'Streaming Server Settings' into 'Beyond TV Link settings'
Put 'Webserver settings, Miscellaneous settings, Security settings under 'System settings'
Leave DVD Burning Settings as is.





CHannel setup;

Put Hidden and Delete on the first columns, than 'call name', ....

Edit Channel numbers to change the sort order (physical and a sort order number)

I don't know where 'name', Major and Minor are used for

Put the button 'Delete ..' at the bottom of the table.

Watching TV

It would be easy to have a simple option changing from and to full screen mode

It would be nice to have tooltip text in the OSD (pause, stop, record, settings, ???, Exit TV)

TO have teletext available would be very nice

Scrolling with my mouse through the channels is a bit sluggish. I setup a 0,75 second delay, but also others show the same result. It directly starts changing in the background or so. It would be nice if one can easily scroll and only after doing nothting for 0,75 seconds that it change the channel.
