Could someone please explain things? (Beyond TV 4)

Can Someone take the time to eplain to someone who is completely new to the scene how the Beyond TV 4 product works?

I have Verizon FIOS TV in my office with their HD-DVR. I have been trolling the net for information concerning Verizon Fios, I am still in the dark on weather or not a PVR solution on my home PC will allow me to record and manipulate digital content using the Verizon Fios TV service.

Here are my questions:

1. Using a Verizon Fios TV HD-DVR, can I connect to my home PC using Snapstream Media's Beyond TV 4 device?

2. Can I record HD content or dn demand content, and take that video and convert it to a different format?

3. If this is not a solution, is there a viable platform that would allow me to do what I have described?

Thank You Much.

EDIT:

What I am trying to figure out here is that I don't understand the technical semantics involved in making this work. What kind of digital TV service do I need? What setup works best for capturing video especially HD video? How do you go about making all of this come together. I just don't understand how I can make the Verizon FIOS HD-DVR the "SLAVE" to Beyond TV 4's TV guide system (if I even understand this at all). I am just totally in the dark at making this work. I have a dedicated AMD 64 4000+ machine with a Geforce 7800 GTX video card, and 2 gig of RAM for my setup (and plenty of storage). I just don't understand how to make it all come together or what TV service is "preferred" to make a proper setup work.

Thanks Again.

Re: NOOB needs someone to explain things (Beyond TV 4)

Does your PC have a TV tuner card?

Lots of people here can help you get set up, but it will take some trial and error on your part. It can be frustrating, but is well worth the effort. Good luck!

I am considering buying the Beyond TV 4 product (as it is on sale ATM). I just don't want to make the purchase until I understand what it is I need to do to make it work, and will it even work with the Verizon FIOS service?

Like I stated:

Before I go out purchasing hardware, I want to make sure I have everything in place to make it work.

Perhaps you need to look at some of the info that is available first. Here is a blog entry that might help:

http://blogs.snapstream.com/2006/09/...demonstration/

And here is this BTV product page that describes features and how it works:

This would be a good start. http://www.snapstream.com/support/be...ile/index.html
Read through this, follow the instructions (based on digital/satellite which is closest to your setup) and come back with questions if you don't understand anything.

Re: NOOB needs someone to explain things (Beyond TV 4)

Bottom line though is that you cannot get HD content into BTV (or MCE) from Verizon. Only Over-the-Air HD
