Glitchy Video and link unable to connect
I am constantly getting slite pauses in video on my link machine. It is more noticeable in HD content but does show up in SD.
Also if I close the link program I have to restart the server to reconnect almost every time. If I don't restart I get "unable to connect" error messages. HD files will play fine on the link machine in Windows Media Player off a network share from the server machine. I have reinstalled .net 1.1 on both machines multiple times and recently installed v 2 on both machines as well. No Anti Virus software is installed on either machine. The server is a dual core Athlon 4 gigs of RAM 900 GB Raid 0 for recordings. The Link is another Athlon with 512 mb ram and high power pci express video card. The network cables are all professionaly installed Cat5e. With a fairly new Switch. (I have tried other switches that are also known to be good and they don't work either) I have had this problem pretty much since I originally installed this setup, so I don't think that reloading OS's is the answer. I hope someone has some magical suggestion to help with this. I am so jealous when I read people watching 3 HD steams with less capable machines then what I am running. Thanks for reading the long post. |

Re: Glitchy Video and link unable to connect
Every symptom sounds like a network issue to me. I'd suspect a bad cable or bad settings on your network cards.

Re: Glitchy Video and link unable to connect
I thought it was a network issue too. But since the HD file will play flawlessly on the link machine from a network share on the btv server, I think it is something else. Also copying large files between the two machines happens quickly as well.
I think I will just connect the two machines directly and see if that fixes the issue. But this still doesn't explain the "unable to connect" error messages all the time. I get these even when the BTV server has full network access. This is a real bummer |

Re: Glitchy Video and link unable to connect
Do you have any network or usb drives on your server?
Some people are having issues: New Link install: File corrupt, path no exist / no live TV :( When you say unable to connect message, are you referring to when you start up link? or when you have link connected trying to access files? If you are getting this when you start up link, does it give you an option to connect to a server name? Last edited by queonda; 01-04-2007 at 06:35 PM. |

Re: Glitchy Video and link unable to connect
The only storage is my RAID aray.
I get this message when I am attempting to connect to the server. The server name shows up but then won't connect. I have to restart the server to get it to reconnect. I have done some research on this and most people are able to get this resolved by installing .net 1.1, while this has helped a little, it still does it all the time. Really I can deal with this issue, it is the glitchy video playback that is breaking my back. |
