Have a Harmony remote, how to use with BeyondTV?

Right now I have a Logitech Harmony 550 remote that controls my entire system (very well I might add). It only does IR, no RF.

How can I use this with BeyondTV? I figured I'd end up buying some IR remote kit and just using the IR receiver, but if I can get an IR receiver without buying the whole kit and save some bucks what would be ideal.

Any ideas?

You can buy the firefly mini remote, it is a IR remote. You can then program the harmony to replace the firefly mini. I also have the 550 and that is what I do.

If your tuner card came with a remote (a lot of them do), you can just use it to "teach" your Harmony. I don't have a Harmony, just a less expensive "learning" remote. I can just choose a button and then have it "listen" for a infrared signal from the Hauppage remote, and it will assign the button to emit that signal. I'm sure Harmony remotes work the same.

If your tuner card doesn't come with a remote, then you'll have to buy a USB IR remote, like the Firefly suggested above. Then use it to teach your Harmony.

As stated, you'll need an IR receiver. You can build one yourself, buy one pre-built and use WinLirc or just buy the FF mini. I use an 880 with the latter receiver and it works fine after training.

If you're wondering how to actually start programming it, I use EventGhost to receive commands from the remote and turn them into keyboard presses. It's free and works great with the USB-UIRT IR receiver.
