New channels - do you have to do anything to make them appear

We recently got some new channels here in the Toronto area - TCM and AMC are finally available. Note that I have digital cable (with a box) to tune in these channels.

These channels have automatically shown up in my MCE guide but they aren't in my BTV guide. Do you have to do anything special to add new channels in BTV? They have appeared in Zap2it but when I go to Channels in WebAdmin they do not appear.

Well deleting my existing source and adding a new source did work, but it is a lot of pain to go through when adding 2 channels to an existing lineup that already contains hundreds of channels. Know I have to go through and reset all of the channels that I don't get such as all of the ethnic and PPV channels. A major pain in the arse!

Why can't BTV do this automagically the way that MCE does?

The new channels did not exist in my Snapstream.net lineup. How would I add them? The article from Nanook seemed to be the way to do this as I now do see the new channels. However there are other lineup changes coming on Feb. 1 - so I will have to do this again - if you have suggestions then I am open to them.

I'm Canadian Eh! We don't get new channels, so never had the problem! ;-)

Sure we do - as I mentioned AMC and TCM just showed up on Rogers 323-324 and if you have an HD box then you just got Showcase HD and Nat Geo HD. Coming in the next couple of weeks is WGN-HD. Sure you can't record these channels in HD but I find that the quality can be better when you record on HD channels and you can later crop if you want to.
