Do I have a chance with Nidia DualTV?
Gentlemen,
Please forgive complete n00b here, but I can’t even figure out where to start… I have: 1. Windows XP Sp2 (this box is intended to be used only as media server, no TV attached) 2. Nvidia DulaTV 3. Microsoft Remote Control and IR Receiver for Media Center PC (with two IR blasters) 4. Two Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4200 cable boxes I was trying to install BeyondTV only to stumble onto inability to control my cable boxes with Microsoft IR Control/Receiver/Blasters and looks like Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4200 cable boxes are not supported either. Is there a way for me to make all of this to work nicely together, or I better off just installing MPC2005 ? Last edited by viktorp; 01-05-2007 at 12:26 PM. |

Re: Do I have a chance with Nidia DualTV?
Gentlemen,
One more time, please help! BTV setup wizard just does not have Microsoft IR Receiver for Media Center PC listed as one of the devices it could use to control my cable boxes, so what should I try to use to control both cable boxes ? I can't even finish the BTV setup right now... |

Yep, the MCE blaster isn't supported.

Well not to confuse you, but the MS Remote will work with a third party application. I already had spent my money on the MS remote and didn't much care for spending the extra cash on the usbirt. So I spent about 2 1/2 weeks learning how to use GIRDER to interperet the IR signals so BTV could understand the MS remote.
After all that, I would suggest if you can take the MS remote back and go buy a USBIRT for the sheer ease of use factor. ![]() I don't know much about the nvidia tuners though... |

[QUOTE=

I'm not vouching for the FM tuner, I don't use it much, it works for a few minutes, but not sure that it's as good as the one that came with the Hauppauge PVR-500. The TV tuner part of it is better - but possibly only because I ended up w/a bad Hauppauge card (on it's way back to be replaced). I don't know anything about the rest, I don't use a cable box, and I am still just using a leftover old ATI Remote Wonder which works fine so I have no reason to get something newer/better. |
