Decoder

I got a Geforce 6800 XT, 1gb ram, LCD WS monitor, PVR-150 Tuner.

I am tryin to get the best possible video quality. So far I am using the Snapstream decoder and Overlay mode. 3d accel isn't giving me good results, and I have tried a bunch of decoders including nero and nvidia. Any guides out there to optimize video quaity?

Re: Decoder

For me, the NVidia Purevideo decoder is the best quality. For a Hauppage 150 you can try creating a new video encoding mode (I called mine Superb) with 15kpbs bitrate and made it the default encoding. Takes a lot of space but gives your Hauppage all the bandwidth it could possibly desire to encode to MPEG-2.

Re: Decoder

How would one go about creating an encoder? Sounds interesting.

Re: Decoder

I think Tappen was referring to creating a recording (encoding) profile. You can do that from the Web Admin. Just right click on the BTV icon in the Windows Tray and select Advanced Settings. From there you should be able to navigate to Settings -> Recroding Preferences, and then create a new recording profile with the whatever resolution bitrate that you want.
