Enable Resize on ShowSqueeze?

Does anyone know what "Enable Resize on ShowSqueeze?" mean? I did a search in the forums but didn't find anything. This is a setting under "edit a quality" in WebAdmin.

Thanks,

Re: Enable Resize on ShowSqueeze?

There are two things that you might be talking about. The first, is whether the Showsqueeze process will actually resize a video, like changing a 1920x1080 source file down to 720x480. If this is turned off, then the final DivX file will have the same pixel dimensions as the source file.

The other thing that you might be talking about is DivX ShowSqueeze Resize Style. This has to do with the aspect ratio and pixel count of the final DivX file.

DivX files, unlike MPEG2 files, can only have square pixels (not anamorphic ones), so if you showsqueeze a 720x480 MPEG2 file to 720x480 DivX file, then it won't playback with the correct aspect ratio, unless you have a software player that can correct the aspect ratio. Not all software/hardware players can do this, so they have the option to Enable resize which basically changes the pixel count to keep the file in the correct aspect ratio, if it is playing back with square pixels.

For example, if you have a 720x480 source file that is 16:9 aspect ratio and you have your DivX Dimension set to 720x480 and you have DivX ShowSqueeze Resize Style turned to "Keep Aspect Ratio", then the final DivX file will actually be 720x400 pixels (roughly 16:9), so it will play back correctly, without any fiddling with the aspect ratio in your software/hardware player.
