newbie needs help on setting up a dvr.

Hi! I just bought a diamond 600 pvr to add to my computer. I have xp media and beyond tv 3.5 came with the pvr. I dont want to record any live tv shows or any tv programs. I want to connect a video camera to my diamond 600pvr and record (live video feed) right to my harddrive without using any internet storage. I have the pvr working with beyond tv (video),However, I can't seem to set up a file to my harddrive. has beyond tv prevented me from this function? I have found the setting, but when I click on it nothing happens. Do I have to buy the upgrade 4.0? Can I set this up using xp media, if so how? HELP !

Re: newbie needs help on setting up a dvr.

To capture feed from Camcorder, VCR or anything that outputs via RCA, you need to add a video source in BTV. I feed my VCR to my D600.

Perhaps this is what you're looking for?

You should be able to start live tv on that channel.

Re: newbie needs help on setting up a dvr.

I'm trying to set this up myself and am having trouble with those instructions. I have the PVR-500

I am using composite cables into my PVR-500 AV input. I set up the channel in web admin.
I can see my channel 0 but get an error when I try to view the channel
"Sorry, but we were unable to start viewing live TV."

So I open the wizrd and edit settings for VCR but when I select one of my tuners as the recording device, I get an error that says device tuner input is already in use.

update: it seems my card is defective, luckily it is still under warrany. I'll try this again after I get my replacement
