Question about Bell Recievers

I have a Bell 4700 series reciever and I want to set it up to recieve from my IR blaster however that option doesnt come up in Beyond TV. I admit I am fairly new to this stuff and have no idea how to really tell what model I have other than the number written on the front. Does anyone know what compatible model choice I can make from the list to select this one? The remote I have at home is RF so I really dont know how I would program this whole thing to record what was needed.

Re: Question about Bell Recievers

They likely use both RF and IR the 5100 that I had used both. Setup your IR as an unknown one and then train it. the IR sets are the same on all Bell recievers.

OR.

go here,
Dual Tuner/Dual USB-UIRT

My files are there. IR set 1 and 2.

Re: Question about Bell Recievers

You are a god amongst men.

Edit: I do not have the folder you make reference to in my system, however I did create it and hope that it functions. Am I to assume I just put them in there, attach the IRblaster to the system and give it a go? I do not have a USB-UIRT thing, however I have a serial IR blaster.

Re: Question about Bell Recievers

The full path to mine are

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Beyond TV\tuner\UUIRT_Remotes

But these are trained from a USB-UIRT. so they may be diffent then what you need.

You could try the echostar recievers. They are based on the same hardware but I do not know if the IR sets would be the same.

Best bet is to let the fourm know what IR blaster you have and see if anyone else is using the same one with Bell stuff.

Have you tried picking unknown and training it yourself? (assuming your blaster can also recieve.)

Re: Question about Bell Recievers

Its a simple Serial Port IR blaster. No training can be done that I know of. I bought it for use with MythTV but I finally got tired of not being able to work on it.

Re: Question about Bell Recievers

I may get a USB blaster though I do have an MCE blaster and reciever that if they work I will use instead. But I cant find anything confirming or denying that it works.

Re: Question about Bell Recievers

Sorry to harp on this but is anyone familiar with configuring a bell reciever to work with either the MCE IR blaster or a serial IR blaster. I will buy a USB-UIRT if necessary but since the reciever is RF in the first place I am not certain how I would ever train the thing with the necessary codes.

Edit: I've been informed it will accept IR commands but I see very little point in buying a IR remote for the system if I can use an existing setup. Besides if I buy the remote I will need to by an IR reciever to train it with.

I am quite knowledgeable normally but this is all very new to me.

Re: Question about Bell Recievers

Do you know the make of the ir blaster. I've had my bell 4700 work with the myblaster, and with the hauppauge pvr-150 ir blaster. There is software for each that allows you to tell what make of receiver you are using.

Re: Question about Bell Recievers

well I have the stock MCE blaster/receiver and a serial port IR blaster that was made by a guy when I was trying to get MythTV to work. I can get the serial blaster to pulse in linux just fine. Unfortunately I hit the same wall over there. However I am vastly more familiar with windows than I am Linux so this way I can muddle about if nothing else.

You wouldnt happen to know how you configured the blaster to work by any chance? If you are 100% sure that the 4700 can take IR input then I am not worried about getting a blaster that will work with it. I just dont know how I am going to get the IR codes without an IR remote.

Re: Question about Bell Recievers

I have controlled BTV with the Hauppauge remote, and am currently using the ATI remote wonder which is rf. As long as your remote can control BTV then the ir signal will be sent by BTV through the blaster.

Re: Question about Bell Recievers

Oh that I was aware of, I was more concerned with getting the actual information sent being correct as I pulled apart the 4700 last night and there are sweet frak all for identifiers in the case for anything useful. What you told me in the PM was useful though, I plan on check out the myblaster equipment.

Re: Question about Bell Recievers

I used to have a 4700, now using a 5100 with my BTV, and both fully support IR. I have a USB-UIRT, but I didn't bother training it. I just selected one the dishnetwork profiles (can't remember which one probably a low-numbered one), and it worked fine.
