Video Card Suggestions
Alright, I recently bought a new computer from DELL, and alas it has a piece of crap internal video card. I need a card that can display 852 x 480 (ENhanced Definition Resolution) A used card on eBay...or from someone here in the forums, would be perfect. Any suggestions? Looking for a relatively cheap solution...this doesnt need to be top of the line, just VGA out is good

Re: Video Card Suggestions
If you ONLY have a PCI slot and no AGP or PCI-Express, then you're not going to have much luck with Beyond TV on that machine. BTV needs accellerated graphics and a PCI video card is not going to have adequate bandwidth and will struggle against other devices on the PCI bus.

Re: Video Card Suggestions
thanks for all the responses, everyone.
Its not PCI 16 unfortunately, just x1. I have a Dell 3100, specs found: http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...n/sm/index.htm |

Re: Video Card Suggestions
PCI-E x1 are extremely rare. Newegg has only one card that fits in that slot. Here is a link:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161017 It is a Radeon X1300 which should be enough for HTPC apps like Beyond TV. |

Re: Video Card Suggestions
ok, when i go to list all modes, i see 852x480 grid, when i select it, my display says no imput signal and blacks out for about 10 seconds before it comes back with the 800x600 resolution. Do you guys have any suggestions? Do you think there is a driver for this monitor that will allow this? The model number is Panasonic

Re: Video Card Suggestions
You may have to use Powerstrip to set up a custom resolution, tweak the refresh rate, polarity, etc.
Do a search though AVSforums with that part number. Perhaps someone there has listed some tips for getting the optimal resolution. This is what I did when I got my new Samsung DLP. The information I got in a thread at AVSforums got me 95% finished. I just had to tweak a little from there. |

Re: Video Card Suggestions
power strip did not work for me... with this card it has the resolutions listed in this link. This means, these are the only resolutions this card will support correct? No possibility of my 852x480? http://www.chaintechusa.com/tw/eng/p...o=14&PISNo=201
