Moving my BTV install from Faulty System to New System

Hello All,

I did a brief search of the site to see if this was discussed elsewhere and found one post relating to doing some sort of a BACKUP and RESTORE of the BTV settings.

I've been running BTV 4.0 for some time now, and the system I had the software installed on has been going downhill (24h/365d) will do that to you. I've just recently had a HD failure on the drive with Season 4 and 5 of 24 on it ;-( so I've decided to go ahead and migrate a better suited system to the job.

My question is what are the pitfalls of reinstalling/moving from one system to another. I wanted to know what materials I need available before I start the job...i.e.: password/account info for guide updates (going to be hard to remember that lol), Serial Number for BTV (also have Beyond Media Installed), config settings, etc.

I'd also like to take a stab at the 4.4 seeing as I'm going to have to do the work anyway.

Any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated...Must say that I've really enjoyed this product a great deal...It's been killing the past few days and with Season Premieres approaching (ok I do have some time) - this has got to get done

Chris

Re: Moving my BTV install from Faulty System to New System

You can easily backup your settings by right clicking on the BTV icon in the tray, click About Beyond TV, then click Backup. From here, you can store the backup of all your settings to the hard drive, or removable media. When you reinstall BTV on the new system, restore your settings using the same method as above. Be aware that you will probably have to go through the Setup Wizard again, after restoring your old settings. Go through, remove your old capture devices and then reconfigure them because the new system is destined to have new IRQ's and such for your capture devices.

Other than that, it isn't too bad.

Anyone know the command line equivalent for this command or what directories it is backing up?
