Editing Channel Line-up?
i've searched the forums but have been unable to find an answer to my dilemna.
I have Comcast cable. I want to still be able to access OnDemand which you can get to by going toi channel 1. Well the channel lineup that I selected from Snapstream does not include a Channel 1. I would like to be able to edit that lineup and add a channel 1 so that I can access Ondemand programming and possibly do some manual recording of some movies and shows that are on OnDemand. What is the easiest way to accomplish this? I've tried numerous suggestions from the forum, including trying to add another input with a new channel lineup, i'm not having any luck.

Capturing from a VCR - using viewscape! Where exactly are you stuck? Did you create a new manual lineup with only channel 1? Did you create a new video input exactly like your regular but associated with the new lineup?

Re: Editing Channel Line-up?
i created a new channel lineupo with just channel 1. for the video source i selected Tuner (the coax input on my PVR-250) and it told me that video source is already in use. So i tried creating a new video source with the Tuner (coax on PVR-250) and I think it said something about that tuner already being used.
I basically got frustrated with it and gave up. I can give it another shot tonight when I get home and tell you the exact messages I got when trying to follow directions like the one in the thread you gave the link for.

Re: Editing Channel Line-up?
I don't think the directions for setting it up to record from vcr will work for what i'm trying to do. I'm trying to get Ondemand through the same input (coax) on the card as my regular video source, not the SVIDEO input or the Composite inputs.

The second possibility is to use the addon in my signature (BTV-Negociator), Server tab, Tuner sub-tab, select a Tuner, check the Edit box, change the friendly name and channel lineup (the one with channel 1) then press "Clone". That should work, but you might need to redo everything when you rerun the installation wizard, since this is not a supported mode...

Re: Editing Channel Line-up?
Are you sure you can tune channel one through coax on you tuner card? It's been my experience that not all cable channel one's are the same... I've even have had it where one television could tune my providers channel one while another television couldn't though both allowed the entry of channel 01 while other tv's would reject the entry completely. So my answer would be you "must" use the other input but let me know if I am wrong.
I don't have comcast so I don't know for certain but some of what I remember is reiterated on wikipedia here: channel 1 |
