The Tivo Guide is the ONLY thing I Miss in BTV

After being a loyal Tivo guy since the original 16 hour version (which is still in my office), I am LOVING BeyondTV! And my wife, who has been crying since I canceled our Tivo service is now realizing how much she loves the new system. She's gone from "It's about 50% as good as Tivo" to "It's about 99% as good as Tivo." And once I put her BTV Link machine in her office and she can watch her archived shows from there, I expect her to say "This is WAY better than Tivo!"

The only thing I miss about Tivo is the On-Screen guide. It took a few hours to get used to, but once I understood it, I could check what was coming on for my favorite channels in a flash. The channel and current show would line up on the left hand side of the screen, and when you highlighted that channel, the upcoming schedule would fill the right side of the screen.

I've attached a screenshot to illustrate.

Is there a guide like this anywhere that I might not have found in BTV yet? If not, Here's a feature request! If I had this, BTV would be perfect.

Keep up the good work, Snapstream!

Jeff

Re: The Tivo Guide is the ONLY thing I Miss in BTV

I have thought a few times that it would be nice to have a gude based on channel instead of time. Maybe if we get someone to program it for the Shared Souce Web Admin, then we can get SS to move it over to BTV.

This may not be ideal, but pressing the "E" key (or "A" in a FireFly remote) brings up the transparent guide, which you can navigate through while still watching/recording

Re: The Tivo Guide is the ONLY thing I Miss in BTV

I had completely forgot about that feature of the Tivo... been using Sci. Atlanta and BTV too long... Now I really wish I still had my Tivo, it was just so simple and fast!

I'd second the motion to get a selectable program guide (just hit a key to have it sort by channel or by time).

Great idea!

THe point isn't a onscreen menu. It is a menu showing all the shows on a particular channel for that day, not all the shows all the channels during a particular time.

Re: The Tivo Guide is the ONLY thing I Miss in BTV

If there's anybody out there with the programming skills to make a plug-in that would do this, I'd be happy to start a bounty for it.

Unfortunatly, SnapStream has not exposed that part of their code, so there is no real way for a developer to interact with the ViewScape itself. Developpers are pretty much limited to addons or web admin variations.
