do the MCE remote IR blasters work?

I just recently got an nVidia DualTV and I was curious as to whether the IR Blasters included with the MCE remote that came with my version of the card will work in BTV? Essentially, I just figure that if and when I get digital cable service, it would be somewhat wasteful to get a separate IR blaster if this one works.

Re: do the MCE remote IR blasters work?

Actually I am wondering this myself, Im sorry to resurrect a dead thread but I was wondering if anyone had any information on this. I have an MCE remote, a Remote Wonder PLus and a Firefly remote but only the MCE has an IR blaster and if I can refrane from buying a new one it would be nice. I spend quite enough on technology as it is.

Re: do the MCE remote IR blasters work?

I have seen some threads in this forum, from time to time, discussing ways to use the MCE blasters. It is possible. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find the information you need.

Actually the threads that deal with the MCE Remote only discuss how to use it with Girder 3. These threads do not have a working methodology for girder 4. If anyone has an update for girder4 it would be much appreciated!

Im honestly only concerned with whether or not I can use it to change channels, that is all I want it to do.

You can probably use HIP. Check out this thread as a starting point:

HOW TO: Using MCE Remote and/or Harmony 880 to control BTV

Does the Firefly remote work under hip as well? I would like to change channels using my Firefly remote, but use the MCE blaster to send the relayed signal to my STB.

Sorry for the newbie questions.

As far as I know, Firefly does not work under HIP, but I'm not really adept at HIP. I've only played with it a little. Check out their site, play with the software.

Oh sweet, screw the MCE IR blaster, I didnt know Beyond could support serial blasters. I have one at home I need to bring in and hook up for my testing then.

I would really appreciate it. I've got an MCE IR blaster that I would love to integrate with BTV, but I haven't had much luck with Girder. It is just too complicated.
