SPDIF and audio encoder

I am using verion 4.2 of BTV, and have a Turtle Beach Catalina soundcard using an optical cable going from its output to the receiver amp. Setting the Snapstream audio decoder removes sound entirely, but using the basic encoder works. But if I use the basic encoder and then set the speaker setup to SPDIF, the volume is locked at 10%, and is very low. Why does the sound not work with the regular encoder only the basic? Any the knowledge base says that its intentionally locked at 10%. If its locked at 10%, how can you hear anything? I have to put up the volume all the way on my amp to hear anything, and this is only with the basic encoder.

But when I go into settings.xml, there's no lockspdifvolume entry.

Re: SPDIF and audio encoder

Yep, went to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Beyond TV\Settings.xml. Inside is a big mess, but did a find for spdif and lock, but nothing shows up except lock aspect ratio. I tried entering manually the code, but when I open the file in IE, I get an error message like a syntax error. Same type of thing when i'm trying to enable the Nvidia audio in custom.xml; I enter the code, and nothing has changed; its still not listed in my settings/audio decoder.

Re: SPDIF and audio encoder

What setting are you trying to change. There is a lock status and a lock volume level. I leave my lock status on and just change the lock volume level to 60. For me, that keeps the volume of digital and analog at about the same level for SPDIF. Also, BTV has to be completely shut down when you edit this file (or it will just keep using the original settings) I use notepad to edit the file

Re: SPDIF and audio encoder

Either setting isn't in the file. I'm using a TB Catalina soundcard. Do you think this is the issue?

Re: SPDIF and audio encoder

John:

If you set the audio to 5.1 -- does That setting work for you?
