Comcast.net blocking snapstream alerts?

Hi all,

I've recently discovered that comcast is (at least in the networks serving my area in central Virginia) trying some new anti-spam tactics that are resulting in whole ip ranges getting automatically blocked. I realized that in addition to some important email domains (such as the one from my job, starting last week!!!) getting bounced when they try to send tol comcast.net addresses, I haven't gotten a snapstream alert since March. Now I wonder how many other things aren't coming in.

Any other comcast users having this experience?

Are you sure that they are blocking these messages (do they show up in a spam or blocked queue) ? I have not gotten an alert for a couple of months (logged a bug report) and I have two different accounts (aol and wideopenwest).

Re: Comcast.net blocking snapstream alerts?

This is a known issue -- we're currently experiencing a problem with the mailer that sends out the messages.

We're working on resolving the issue.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: Comcast.net blocking snapstream alerts?

Thanks, bnflaherty.

Nanook105, yes, the first things I checked was the local junk mail filter in Outlook and the screening filters Comcast has long allowed users to apply to individual accounts. I am reading today that Comcast has recently started using something called Spamhaus, and as a result I know for sure about two domains that cannot send messages to my account because of it, and who knows how many that I don't know about. Comcast support actually told me that domains on Exchange 2003 servers are often automatically blacklisted because they don't allow reverse DNS lookups. So their solution is to email the comcast blacklist people to have good addresses (that should never have been blacklisted to start with) removed. What a bassackward way to handle this stuff!!! Blacklist everyone and then whitelist on request????

Anyway, more about this for comcast users here:

I hate comcast. If I could get high speed internet from someone else I'd kill all our comcast services in a heartbeat.

Glad SS is working on the Alerts issue, thanks.

Re: Comcast.net blocking snapstream alerts?

I dropped Comcast like a lead balloon as soon as Wideopenwest started offering services in my area
