Multiple channel lineups in multiple timezones?
I have a weird predicament. I live in Central Time and I currently have cable service and OTA HD. Both are working fine. I want to add West Coast (Pacific Time Zone) satellite service, so I can catch all the Lakers games that you can only get on the local networks (in the LA area.)
My question is this. Since my computer runs Central Time, which I need for my other channel lineups, can I also have a DirecTV channel lineup, which is running on Pacific Time? It seems that I will run into problems with BTV starting recordings, based on my local (Central) time and not on the the timezone of the source lineup, in this case Pacific Time. Any ideas? I've been scratching my head over this and I can't think of anything that will help, except maybe using XMLTV, which seems to have a steep learning curve. I haven't been able to wrap my head around using XMLTV for multiple listing types. I also can't figure out how to remap channels with it, for my OTA HD. Please help... |

Re: Multiple channel lineups in multiple timezones?
But does BTV compare the database of programs (in UTC) against the timezone on the local PC, then deduce where to put those in relation to the local timezone? If it does this, then I think you're right and it will work.
I'm testing, right now, setting up a dummy lineup and recording device. I'll compare the showtime of some popular primetime show between the satellite major network channel (Pacific) and my local cable provider's major network channel. If the showtimes line up, then it is working. If not, I've got more work to do. |

Re: Multiple channel lineups in multiple timezones?
You were right! Eureka!
I looked up the showtime for next week's "Apprentice". They are both showing the same showtime, as they should. Thanks for the help. *EDIT* I double-checked this with TitanTV. They show "Apprentice" as starting at 6:01 PM Pacific and 8:01 Central. Since they are both showing up as 8:01 Central, in my listings, I must assume that BTV adjusted the showtime, correctly. Re: Multiple channel lineups in multiple timezones?
If for some reason that ends up not working. You could change the start/stop padding on a per show basis to make up for anything that you record out of timezone. It would be manual, but for the laker games might only be a one time setup.
