Diamond 560-PVR / Snapstream Problems
I just bought a Diamond PVR560PCI-RC with Mini-Firefly. It was bundled with SS Beyond TV 4.2.0 and SS Beyond Media 1.1.1 Express Editions. The card will not install and rum properly. BTV does not even register itself in the Control Panel/Install/Uninstall Software.
Neither program will find my always on internet connection (cable). Both program say that they installed sucessfully. BTV will never open. I get a sporadic message saying it is restarting some BTV service (can't find in in the XP services panel). Beyond media immediately goes to a dialog box after the "successful instal" that says 0x2(2) error and asks about debugging then fails. Anyone have any ideas? I e-mailed Diamond (only option of contact) and have got NO response. Will keep you all updated on that. I have installed several Diamond PVR550PCI-RC cards and SS 3.series software with no problems. The 560 is smaller and has all chips and not the large metal tuner. My system is an Asus A8N-VM (6100 integrated video), 1GB Corsair, 80 GD WD, Samsung DVD Writer. Windows XP Home, all updated applied. No virus software and no firewall. HELP!! Thanks, Phillip |

Re: Diamond 560-PVR / Snapstream Problems
Take 1 step at a time.
I would start over on installation. 1) Download and save to disk the all the latest drivers for your hardware. Do not use drivers which came with your hardware unlss they are the latest 2) Install driver 3) install hardware 4) Power up and verify now hardware installs with the drivers. 5) Goto control pannel/system/hardware and verify all new hardware is registered there and says working properly 6) If all is well then install the simple programs which came with the hardware (not beyond tv yet) and make sure you get the audio and video working properly. 7) Now install beyond TV ( there is a beta 4.3.0 version I recomend you use instead of the 4.2.0) one step at a time bro |

Re: Diamond 560-PVR / Snapstream Problems
STAY AWAY FROM DIAMOND PVR/TV PRODUCTS. DIAMOND DOES NOT RESPOND TO TECH INQUIRIES OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF INQUIRY. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS JUST A FLUKE OR SOMETHING, BUT TODAY I NOTICED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON OTHER BOARDS STATEING THAT NO ONE CAN CONTACT OR GET A RESPONSE FROM DIAMOND. I CALL TO CORPOARATE HQ GOT ME A 30 MINUTE WAIT WITH NO RESPONSE BEFORE THE BATTERY WENT DEAD IN MY PHONE. SOMETHING IS BAD WRONG WHEN THE SALES PEOPLE WON"T EVEN RESPOND.
SNAPSTREAM RESPONDED TO MY INQUIRIES EVEN WHEN THEY REALLY HAD NO OBLIGATION TO DO SO. Thanks, Phillip |
