Software encoding on a dual core?

Anyone have any experience with software based DivX encoding on a dual core system? Is it significantly better than a similarly configured P4 system (ie. encoding uses one core while simultaneously providing smooth playback using other)? Is BTV optimized for dual core in this manner?

Re: Software encoding on a dual core?

All I know if you have 2 cores, you can showsqueeze two shows at once. I went from a P3 to an AMD dual core. Big improvment in the server, ya think? ;-)
