Elimitate black border around video? (GeForce 6150)

After successfully testing BTV and HD OTA recording on my gaming rig, I put together a dedicated BTV box. The test system used an ATI card. The dedicated system uses that MSI board with GeForce 6150 graphics--I am using component output.

On the 6150 system, there is a black border around the video--the BTV GUI and the Windows desktop display properly though so I think I have my video settings correct, with a slightly overscanned 1920x1080i picture.

How can I zoom the video image just a little to fill up the available area? The border isn't that big but it's driving me nuts. Hitting Options/Zoom zooms way too much, clipping out a lot of the image.

Thanks!

Like this??

No solution but you are not alone. I'm not sure but I think TVTool works on nvidia cards like powerstrip does for ATI cards and lets you set custom resolutions to fill your screen.

Re: Elimitate black border around video? (GeForce 6150)

I don't think I have quite the same problem. My computer desktop looks fine. The R/L edges are overscanned just a little bit. The BTV GUI looks fine too. So for programs, my 1080i setup is working OK. The black border is only in BTV video.

I could probably change resolution and overscan so that BTV video filled the screen, but then the desktop would be overscanned by too much.

What I really need is a place to put in a custom zoom factor just for BTV video, or something like that.

Any reason why you don't eliminate the overscan first? Using a resolution around 1776 x 1000 typically get rid of it with some recent drivers...

Alternatively, in BTV itself you can compensate for the overscan: Settings --> Playback Settings --> Adjust Display... Then depending on the material you use the appropriate aspect ratio.

Re: Elimitate black border around video? (GeForce 6150)

The display setting in BTV only alters the placement of the GUI, it doesn't scale the whole image. The problem is that the video doesn't fill up the entire area occupied by the GUI.

In other words, when I am looking at the guide, it's blue edge to edge. When I play a video, the video is not edge to edge.

Edit: Got it fixed. I used stretch mode to force the video to go edge-to-edge, then the nVidia image adjustments to stretch the image vertically to get the proportions right. Whoo.
