Guide data download a resource hog

Ever since I upgraded to BTV4, the Guide Data Download brings all other activity on my machine to a snails pace. Is there any way to schedule this to happen in the wee hours of the morning? I've looked for time sensitive setting, but all I can find is the basic "on/off".

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What version of BTV 4 are you using. There was a fix to that issue in 4.2

Unfortunately I'm still having problems on my system and it brings my 2.6 ghz system to a standstill. My wife was watching Greys Ana last night and at 15 mins before the end, the system just hesitated to a standstill. I've had this happen before too. My only thoughts are something that is going off on it's own like the guide or a new show to record which was not the case.
I'm on 4.2, what is the setting to move this into a certain time? I imagine it's another hard to find setting in the web admin area.

I'm on a 2.0GHz and guide updating never prevented me from watching TV or a recorded one. My machine is weaker than yours and does not suffer your problem so there's something else at odd.

Have you defragmented your drive lately? The guide update does quite a bit of work on your HD so I can imagine fragmentation slowing everything down. I have DiskKeeper 10 on my BTV machine doing its magic every nights.

Can you post the log from that period of time to see if it was guide related ?
