FusionHDTV5 Gold

I currently have a system with a Hauppauge PVR-150 and BeyondTV. I would like to add a FusionHDTV5 Gold card to the system as a second TV tuner. I don't currently have HD TV but want to be ready for when I do, and I currently need a second tuner card installed.

Does the FusionHDTV5 Gold also work for recording standard analog cable that I already have?

Does the FusionHDTV5 Gold work fine in a system that already has a Hauppauge PVR-150 ? BeyondTV has no problems with mixing different tuner cards in make, or standard and HD types?

Thanks for any advice on the topic.

Re: FusionHDTV5 Gold

I have this exact setup and it's working fine. The PVR-150 records my cable from ComCast; the Fusion Gold records OTA HD. Since each card has its own lineup, BTV knows which programs to cap with which card, but the program guide is transparent. The Fusion I believe may record analog as well, it has one S-Video input in the back, but I've never used it. Me personally, I'm not into video cap cards that only record video and rely on another component to cap audio...which is why I don't use the analog portion of the Fusion Gold.

The fusion gold tho, is a great card. It just works (just make sure you follow the manual to the letter, and don't ever go near that PVR software that comes with it).

Re: FusionHDTV5 Gold

The fusionHDTV5 does not have a hardware encoder, so I wouldn't use it for analog recording.

Re: FusionHDTV5 Gold

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the advice. Sounds like I should get a second PVR-150 for now, and upgrade to the FusionHDTV5 Gold when I finally get HD TV. I just thought I'd be able to get a head start on the HD setup and save a few bucks in the long run. Having the two tuners for std cable right now is more important.

Appreciate the help.
