Will PCI cards work in PCI express slot?

Looking at MB's online, it seems that I must switch to PCI Express when I buy my new MB. The only problem is that the new MB's only seem to have 3 PCI slots, and 1 or 2 PCI express slots.

I miss the good old days when MB's had 5 or 6 PCI slots.

Anyway, since I have 4 PCI cards (3 tuners, might go to 4 tuners), and only 3 slots...can I plug in a PCI card into a PCI express slot?

You can however get a PCI Express to PCI riser / adapter so you can use ANY PCI card from a PCI Express slot. Usually a 1 x lane.

You can't just plug a pci card into the same slot though.

Alternatively, just buy an older motherboard with a chipset that supported a lot of PCI slots. I'm using an Nforce 3 motherboard because I wanted a lot of PCI slots.

I know this doesn't help you with your current cards, but you can get the Powercolor 550 (ATI Theater 550 Pro) PCI-e x1 tuner card.
