Dual tuner's, cable+satellite, and mix of time zones

I'm in the process of deciding what my pvr setup is going to be - I'm probalby going with a Shuttle box, athlon 64, 1 gb mems, 400 gd disk, yadda yadda yadda. I'm also looking at the BTV package with the 500mce card with dual tuners (which should hopefully be off back order soon - anyone have an eta?)

Here's my problem:

I'm a cable subscriber in Canada. No sweat, that's the easy part. I also have a US satellite subscription on Dish Network. The issue is that not only is the time zone wrong 1/2 of the year (due to daylight savings) for the Dish channels, I have a mix of timezones in my subscription (most of the channels are from the central time zone, and I get the Network channels from the East coast).

My question is can Beyond TV handle this situation correctly? My initial thoughts were that since BTV can handle multiple guides, I can setup three guides: 1 for cable, 1 for the majority of the Dish channels, and 1 for the Network channels. However, can you specify what channels are active in a given guide? I ask this, since the two Dish guides would have overlapping channels, but the times would be shifted due to the differing timezones.

If I understand how guides work correctly, you can prioritize the guides such that when you choose a channel, the first guide in the list wins. However, in this case, only a certain set of channels in the one guide would be correct (the network channels). These would be the only channels in that guide that would be valid. I could then place this guide first in the priority list - all other Dish channels would be chosen from the main Dish guide. Or, am I completely out to lunch?

Any suggestions on how to configuration this environment would be much appreciated!

Re: Dual tuner's, cable+satellite, and mix of time zones

As long as you setup a different line up for each tuner (cable/Dish), it should not matter... Unless both tuners on the 500mce can't have different line up, but I doubt it... You should probably try to setup a SnapStream.net account and see if it will allow you to select both lineup, I don't know how grey-market friendly that part is...

Re: Dual tuner's, cable+satellite, and mix of time zones

Well, we'll just have to see. The trick is that I think I need three guides, but I'll only have two tuners. So, I'm not sure if I'll be able to configure what I need.

Hopefully this works - I've ordered the 500mce today; once I get the card, I'll build the rest of the system.....

I'm not sure if I can setup an account until I have the software in hand, but I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
