How long?

How long can you record?

Can i just continuously record a whole day? Assuming I have the diskspace to support it, can just go on for 12 hours straight? Will the file become too large or the hard rive become too fragmented?

Re: How long?

No technical reason it would not work, but why? Why not record the actual shows so you can manage your file system?

Re: How long?

BET has an in living color marathon on today. First of all, the guide data disagress with tvguide.com and BETs own web site, so I have to set the recording manually.

Secondly, I don't want to miss the closing credits because they usually have an act performing, or the openeing sequence which is usually a funny music video parody. So I usually record the whole thing and split it later with an MPEG cutter.

Re: How long?

Actually if you break it up into smaller recordings (1-2hrs each)you should still record it all, credits andeverything, sice it's on one channel. That way if something goes wrong, you lose one hr, not the whole thing.

Always assume something will screw up.
