This could probably go as a good plug for Snapstream instead..
So I stumbled onto BTV a couple of months before I moved cross country. I sat there and thought as I packed if it was all worth the cost of moving...why do I need this massive TV. And worse, where I was moving to had no Satellite PVR. Comcast was still a bit from offering it. I installed BTV 3.4 on my machine and it was good.
There were some quirks but I managed to use this forum to get through them. So I'm out on the other coast now and being all "mobile techie". I've got my BTV server hook up to a light flat panel with 100 hours of record time. But then, I realized...I didn't have a tv in the bedroom. And then I saw a laptop...and installed BTV Link on it. Granted it was a royal kick in my pants trying to figure out how to get it to see the server on my network...but then I read about networkclient and it was all good.
But wait, it gets better. Using compression to WMV so I can stream it on my PDA Phone via free Wifi on my bus commutes to and from work. Wow.
Kudos.
