Hope this configuration will work!

Ok, I'm looking into buying BTV and have been searching the forums the past week for questions that I had. From what I could gather from reading the forums my setup should work but I thought I would lay it all out and see if anyone sees any problems with it. I want to have a centralized server (Athlon XP 2500, 1 gig DDR 400, 400 gig HDD, 10/100/100 NIC) running BTV4 which would hold 1 WinTv-PVR-500MCE with the cable set & 1 WinTv-PVR-150, 3 port serial PCI card, located in my basement with 3 Directv D10-300 recivers controlled by serial port. The server will be rack mounted with no tv conected to it. I have CAT5 wired to each room in the house and a 16 port 10/100/100 switch with a Linksys Router & DSL. I want to setup a "client" pc at each of the 3 TV's in the house using BTV Link and be able to stream live TV, record, and all the other functions of BTV4 & BTV Media to them from the server. At most, there will only be 2 clients straming live TV at the same time. I'm not sure if this will work, but I would also like to stream live FM radio to the clients also. I appreciate anyones insight and suggestions on this. Thanks

Re: Hope this configuration will work!

For the server I would isolate the OS from the BTV HDDs.
A "small" 60GB for the OS and your 400GB for the videos.
Rest seems fine I think and not sure about radio stream.

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to add that, I will have a 80 gig HDD dedicated to the OS.

Should work fine. Do you mean 10/100/1000 (i.e. Gigabit)? Hope so, as the bandwidth of three clients is pretty significant.

Looks like a good config. If you haven't purchased the hardware yet the only item to think about is the MB chipset. There have been quite a few people having issues with VIA chipset MB and thier tuner cards (hauppauge for sure but I think the ATI H/W cards as well). Go for a nice Nvidia chipset.

Just my 2 cents

Good luck
