Re: New SoundMax Driver
I just gave up on soundmax, new driver and all. Got a creative blaster 5.1 external. It solved the fast forward problem and looks like it will solve the elusive missing sound problem that I have been having. also 5.1 surround works fine.
but, but, but now im getting sync problems. looks like I may have to go back to myhd mdp-130 for my hidef stuff. jsutton

Re: New SoundMax Driver
I tried the Blaster 5.1 and it solved the spdif no sound issue with soundmax but then my system crashed several times. I've since removed that card and installed the SIIG Soundwave 7.1. That works very well. Sound is now perfect and transitions from Dolby and back are very smooth.
I do however get occasional sound jitter when opening a recording and have to switch to 2 or 5.1 and then back to spdif to remove that. Had that with soundmax as well. Looking for a solution to this now.

Re: New SoundMax Driver
Actually i've had this problems with soundmax and other software.
From what i've read in other forums it has to do with Service pack 2 and it replacing the portcls.sys file with an updated version. specifically i ran into problems with zoomplayer, and loosing SPDIF audio if i paused, FF or REW. http://forum.inmatrix.com/index.php?showtopic=2783 I have an Asus p4p-800se motherboard. I believe that i upgraded to the drivers for the P5P series and that fixed it. or microsoft has issued a hotpatch for the portcls, but you have to call and talk to someone to get it http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813347/en-us |

Re: New SoundMax Driver
Here I go again,,,,finally remembered to disable ac97 in bios on my p4p800 mb. Reload the sound blaster 5.1 driver and deleted btv4 and reinstalled completely. Now i have btv4 HD running perfectly. Plus the picture quality using the neroDvd codec is almost as good as my mdp-130, its just a little less crisp and bright.
I think ill leave the mdp-130 aloan for a while and enjoy btv4 hidef for a while. jsutton
