Windows Blue Screen - avcuwilo.sys
I have been using the latest version of BTV for some time now with no problems. Yesterday, when trying to load BTV I got an error about the BTV services...I had 3 choices, to stop services, restart services, or exit. I tried all 3, but the program froze. In my task manager, the BTVRecordingEngine.exe process could not be manually ended.
I restarted my computer, and I got a blue screen with the error for avcuwilo.sys (my tv tuner driver) - I freaked out. I restarted in Safe Mode w/ networking and did a google search, and came up with this: Issue loading SnapStream with VideOh! Media Center USB 2.0 I had the same VideoOh USB TV Tuner as him, so I deleted the file, and my computer restarted fine. When I restarted, I reinstalled the drivers, and it worked properly. I watched TV, but now I've noticed randomly this will happen again, and sometimes when I click Live TV, it says the TV Tuner cannot be detected and to run the setup wizard again. Then I have to restart my computer - even though the TV Tuner is connected and working fine. Whats going on? I hate when programs blue screen my computer, especially if I can't even start my computer up without this error. Thanks in advance! |

Re: Windows Blue Screen - avcuwilo.sys
What type of computer are you using? My usb tuner initially had issues, but it's more a usb driver problem I believe. If I got the error your talking about I would just unplug the usb, wait until windows beeps then re-insert it. It's a work around for a reboot.
Yours is definately a driver problem, I'm not familiar with your tuner though. BTV does nothing with your tuner on windows start-up -- even if you have btv start on login, it does nothing with the tuner until it records or tunes livetv. A bluescreen on start up has to be a driver issue. Make sure you have adequate power to the tuner, if it has a power adapter plug it in even if it does not "require" it -- some power supplys/motherboards have power issues with a lot of usb devices connected. Try plugging the tuner into a powered hub, if you have one -- or directly if your using a hub. You might try setting bios to support legacy usb devices, if you have that option. Or looking for a jumper on the motherboard that controls whether power is supply to the usb port, with the computer off -- but still plugged in (it's usually explained in the manual next to the "wake by usb" paragraphs. Setting the jumper to always supply power fixed my usb tuner issues -- my tuner did not power up quickly enough for windows or the motherboard to register it. Sometimes it just would hang and not boot xp. Good luck, I hope something helps - maybe someone with a videOh will know more.
