Re: webadmin not function

Should post in support forum.

I think it is a browser problem. Try deleteing all offline content and all internet cache and cookied. Go to Tools - Internet Options - Temporary Internet Files - Settings - Change Check for new version of pages to Every Visit to a page. Then reboot and try.

Can you try http://localhost:8129/default.aspx ? or change localhost to your ip address local area network ip address. If it is none then run cmd . Then in command mode type ipconfig or ipconfig /all . Find your hostname and IP address for local lan. Either one will work with the web admin for BTV .

Do you have any other network programs using localhost ? Did your local ip change ? Seting up a network is not easy. Try to use the setup wizard and research security .

Re: webadmin not function

I don't know anything about System Mechanic. Is it a big deal to uninstall to see if it is the source of the problem ? Does it have a web front end ?

Re: webadmin not function

Sounds like it has to be a port 8129 issue to me... Esp if VNC is working.

Uninstall/Reinstall .NET service. Problem fixed. (System Mechanic security module does a jam on some net services. I believe it asks before running if you want to close these holes. Say no next time.)

I'd like to make a knowledge base article about this "feature" of System Mechanic. What exactly did you experience when trying to connect to the Web Admin? Did it simply not connect, like a nonexistent web page?

Thanks!

Edit: Please PM with reply

Re: webadmin not function

Or better yet get rid of system mechanic and any other registry cleaner. They break far more things than they fix.

One post below you Web Interface - Connection: Lost The same problem

Re: webadmin not function

System Mechanic can really create havoc if you are not very careful. Version 6 is even worse. Version 6 really has a lot of bells and whistles, but has some serious flaws.

Various automatic and scheduled fixes, deletions and optimizing can remove or change files that should not really be touched. The problem is that in some of the program's options (for example in security threat analysis) it's a go-no-go thing. You don't have any way to examine the individual problems and choose to select or not select them for fixing. It's all or none. AND don't count on the option to save information to "undo" any fix. It only works about 10 percent of the time.

The registry clean or optimize will remove or attempt to fix things that it shouldn't. The first time I used the newest Version 6 Pro it created so many problems I had to restore my system with an image backup.

It is a nice tool for cleaning up duplicate files and all the other utilities but I really have to warn you to not do anything fully automatic and if in doubt DON'T do it. ESPECIALLY if you are using the new vs 6.
