How to record channel not in guide?

The guide is still missing all the Voom channels on Dish network and there are a number of progams I want to record. Unless I'm missing something, even setting a manual recording does not alow you to select channels not in the guide. Is there a way to manually enter channel numbers for scheduled recording?
Right now I"ve been setting up a recording on a guide channel then programming the sat recvr to auto-tune the wanted channel a minute later. I get the recording ok, but all the info is obviously wrong.

Re: How to record channel not in guide?

If thundermax's suggestion doesn't work for you. You could always follow This thread on adding a channel to record from VCR http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/showthread.php?t=24388 to add the channels that you want to be able to record from. It will give you the ability to manually watch and set up recordings, but the guide data will be blank. I did this for a bit when my cable company didn't have a lineup to match the non-digital channels in my area.
